Green In>> Aloe Vera

This beautiful green cactus, known by the name of aloe vera certainly needs no introduction. Having found its place in several of the regimes due to its health and beauty benefits, this plant happens to be a must in the households. So whether you plan on keeping him just to add a splash of green or for the sake of reaping its benefits- the choice is yours to make. But in order to not mess him up with incomplete knowledge, here's a cheat sheet for you to know the specific requirements of your very own aloe.

Propagation: As far as the propagation is concerned this plant cannot be propagated using its leaves as the leaves are juicy and therefore contains a lot of moisture in it, which will come in its way to give it a rot. The easiest way would be to look for aloe pups or offsets. The pups can be identified by its bright green colour and small size lying close by to the mama plant. These also have their own roots so for the propagation process: gently pry the aloe pup from the soil with roots (do not cut them off) too and place it in soil. As time goes by these pups will then grow to make an aloe plant themselves.

Potting: Find a pot having drainage holes so that the plant doesn't have to sit in the water only to get infected with root rot. That we don't want. So go for a pot that'll provide good drainage.

Fertilizer: It is a very fuss-free plant and so fertilizer isn’t really important. However, you can feed him once every month.

Sunlight: This plant loves sunlight so make sure it gets at least 7 hours of sun each day.

Shade: Being a sun lover, this plant may not flourish healthily in shades. So make sure he sits in a place where he can get adequate exposure to the sun.

Temperature: The plant will flourish at temperatures ranging from at least 13 ͦC to 27 ͦC.

Water: Even though it loves the sun but that doesn’t mean it would love water too. In fact, aloe vera is actually a succulent and thus belongs to the cacti family. So it is by no surprise that it doesn’t need much water.

So those were some propagation and care requirements for aloe vera. I hope these prove to be helpful and do let me know in the comments how it turns out to be.
